"For a moment there I thought I recognized the bracelet," he muttered. "Guess there could be more than one bracelet like it though. The gal I remember wearing something like this was a lot younger."
When Carlos gave the signal, a group of men moved in to take the body away. The old woman's remains were zippered into a rubber sack and carried away. The rest of them stood waiting for Gleason's instructions.
"Better keep digging. Chances are when you find one, you'll find more. People don't usually decide to ride out a storm alone." Almost reluctantly, they began to disperse, trudging back to whatever it was they were doing when Chesterton discovered the old woman's body. Then he turned to Carlos. "Better call the disaster center and tell them we uncovered another body," he sighed. Then as an afterthought, he added, "Maybe you'd better tell them she's a Jane Doe, no ident." He looked up at Jeff Freeman and shook his head. "Worst part of it is, we'll probably never know."
